Motivational Monday

Where did the week go? As I get older, I’m amazed by how quickly time passes.
Whenever I can, I like to slow down and simply “be.” Today, I wanted to pause but felt I couldn’t. As I sat in my office beginning Motivation Monday, I looked out the window and saw the breeze gently moving the trees. Their motion immediately brought a sense of calm. I felt God encouraging me to pause and meditate on Him.
Meditation looks different for everyone. For me, it means closing my eyes and breathing deeply—but not emptying my mind. I believe doing so could leave room for Satan to enter. Scripture says:
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring
lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8 NIV
If I empty my mind, I am not staying alert to Satan’s schemes. Instead, I open my mind to the Holy Spirit and ask, “What does God want to place on my heart right now?” For me, the answer is what I am writing. This is the message He wanted me to share, and I am grateful I listened to His gentle whisper in the moving trees and responded.
